The magician borrows a coin to play a tug o war game with a spectator. The magician seems to have lost the game but then everybody notices that the solid metal coin has been severely stretched. This normally receives a "shock and awe" response with an explosion of laughter.
From Rich: Stretched and bent coins have been around in the magic world for decades. I didn't know this when I thought of this effect is 1990. I had an idea to play a type of " tug o war " game with a spectator, the end result would be that after letting the spectator win the coin would be miraculously stretched. I would leave the spectator with the stretched coin attached to my business card, so that they would remember the evening. "
